13 STEPS

  1. If you do not see the Smoke Detector Inspection Request  on the SDL Portal home screen, Click the Requests button at the top of the page.

  2. Find the Smoke Detector Inspection Request and click the Request a Detector Inspection button. Note: If you do not see this option, your town has not activated this feature.

  3. First, select a reason for your request from the list of available choices.

  4. Enter your Occupancy Date.

  5. Select how you want your certificate delivered from the list of available choices.

  6. Provide any additional notes relevant to this request and click the next arrow to move onto the next section.

  7. Type the first few lines of your address into the Address Search box. Once the address appears below, click it.

  8. Your property location information will auto-populate. Review for accuracy and then select the next arrow to continue.

  9. Note: If any required information is missing, it will appear in red. You will be unable to continue until you have provided all required information.

  10. If your municipality requires documentation, click the Browse for a file button to attach any relevant files from your computer. Then click the next button to continue.

  11. Click the Send Request button to finalize the process and send your application to the municipality.

  12. A confirmation screen will appear that contains a summary of your request, a list of next steps, and the option to print a confirmation.

  13. You will receive a confirmation email with the details of your request. You can also review the status of your request on your Account page.
